Colin is the driving force behind 3D DDS. With nearly 30 years of advanced industry experience, he is an accomplished technician, educator, lecturer and pioneer of digital workflow and material development. Holding both Certified Dental Technician (CDT) and Master Dental Technician (MDT) credentials, Colin commands a rare level of mastery that bridges cutting-edge dental science, clinical digital innovation, and fine artistry.
Colin’s obsession with precision and consistency began in the 1990s while working with early Nobel Biocare Procera Scanners, like the Piccolo and Forte. Refusing to accept the tedious, heavily outsourced workflows of the era, he brought 3M Lava into the laboratory, establishing 3D DDS as a primary production center to manage the entire process in-house. This strategic move launched the Research and Development side of the business and placed Colin at the forefront of early Zirconia production.
Never satisfied with the status quo, Colin was also an early adopter of dental 3D printing, acquiring his first printer in 2004. While the technology back then was limited to printing wax patterns for metal casting or pressing Emax, he leveraged it to push boundaries. Over the last three decades, Colin has collaborated directly on R&D teams with most of the major dental manufacturers globally, actively shaping the modern digital dentistry workflows utilized in clinics and labs today. He continues to guide the future of the industry by developing new, innovative dental products.
Throughout his career, Colin has helped hundreds of dental practices seamlessly implement digital workflows, directly improving the quality of care delivered to thousands of patients seeking the smiles of their dreams. This unwavering dedication to exceptional clinical outcomes has fueled the growth of 3D DDS into one of the premier dental laboratories in the country.
